Green Finance Specialist

The Green Finance Specialist is a programme with the aim to deliver in-depth knowledge on green finance topics through a combination of a 20-weeks online training and a 3-day face-to-face training in India, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines. It has been developed within the scholarship programme Green Banking - Capacity Building on Green Energy and Climate Finance.

The Green Finance Specialist is in the process of gaining accreditation from the Finance Accreditation Agency (FAA) , Malaysia.

The main topics are:

- Fundamentals of the renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies
- Political and legal market frameworks
- Project financing and project appraisal of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects including credit application, financial modelling and project evaluation
- International climate finance options
- RE projects in the portfolio context

The main objectives of the programme are:

- Have an overview of the market scope and potential
- Gain basic understanding of the relevant renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies
- Be able to evaluate renewable energy and energy efficiency projects
- Be able to use financial models and to develop term sheets for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects
- Be knowledgeable about options for international climate finance and how to access such funds
- Be able to develop and evaluate portfolios of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects

The deadline for application is the 31st of March 2017.

Who can apply for Green Banking scholarships?

Professionals from private and public institutions from India, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines involved or interested in financing renewable energy and energy efficiency projects are invited to apply for Green Banking scholarships:

- Commercial banks
- Development banks
- Private equity, risk capital and infrastructure funds
- Institutional investors

Moreover, the following groups are eligible for applying for Green Banking scholarships:

- Renewable energy and energy efficiency project developers who would like to increase their know-how on funding requirements and possibilities
- Ministries and public institutions involved in designing political and economic structures which need information on the financing requirements of renewable energy and energy efficiency
- Companies, public institutions and NGOs who need support in the assessment of funding requirements and possibilities for their projects
- Media who would like to cover the issue of renewable energy and energy efficiency and their funding requirements and possibilities.

Green Banking is a scholarship programme within the German International Climate Initiative (IKI) with the support of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety.
