What is the Geothermal Energy Association? The Geothermal Energy Association is a trade association composed of companies who support the expanded use of geothermal energy and are developing geothermal resources worldwide for electrical power generation and direct-heat uses. To accomplish this, the GEA advocates for public policies that will promote the development and utilization of geothermal Resources, provides a forum for the industry to discuss issues and problems, encourages research and development to improve geothermal technologies, presents industry views to governmental organizations, provides assistance for the export of geothermal goods and services, compiles statistical data about the geothermal industry, and conducts education and outreach projects. GEA is in the business of events specific to the geothermal energy industry. Our mission is to conduct education and outreach projects and events that provide a forum for the industry to discuss issues and problems. Our events are educational in nature, with the top experts in the industry, while also maintaining a business networking environment that we find key in a successful event.
2016 has been a year of many changes for GEA with events reflecting the growing geothermal market abroad and the partnering with other baseloads to seek parity in the renewable energy market.
Thus far in 2016, GEA held its US & International Geothermal Showcase at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, DC. Over 40 countries were represented at this event. The keynote addresses were provided by Sakari Oksanen from IRENA and US Senator Dean Heller.
Our upcoming Baseload Renewable Energy Summit June 7-8 in Reno, NV will be a new spin on our prevoius Summits. This year, GEA is partnering with the National Hydropower Association (NHA) and the Biomass Power Association (BPA) to voice key issues faced by all three renewables policitically, economically, and socially.
GEA's Expo will be held October 23-26. Every year, GEA hosts the world's largest gathering of vendors providing support for geothermal resource exploration, characterization, development, production and management. It provides a unique opportunity for exhibitors to showcase their projects, equipment, services and state of the art technology to the geothermal community.
